Confidentiality

Confidentiality is a main concern for the Integrity Commissioner who is required to protect the identity of persons who make disclosures, witnesses and persons alleged to be responsible for wrongdoing. It is only where the interests of fairness and natural justice require it that personal information may be disclosed on a need to know basis during the course of an investigation.

Public Servants should feel confident to consult confidentially with the Integrity Commissioner’s office if they have questions about making a disclosure. This office is available to provide information on the legislation and to give informal advice about the process to assist employees who are considering making a disclosure.
